A Çukurova Airport to Atakent transfer follows the Mersin coastline almost end to end. You leave the airport on the Tarsus side, pass Mersin, leave Erdemli and Kizkalesi behind, and reach Atakent after Narlıkuyu as the road nears Silifke. This page covers the journey from the arrivals hall to your summer home, what the road is like and a few practical points for a long coastal drive.

The Moment You See Your Name

We track the flight number in your booking. If landing is delayed, the pickup moves with it. Once you have your luggage, walk through the arrivals exit and look for the driver holding a sign with your name. The car is yours alone. No other passengers, no stops along the way.

A little preparation helps on a longer ride. Keep water and snacks for the children in a hand bag. The charging cable buried at the bottom of a suitcase will stay there until you arrive.

Along the Coast in Three Stages

Stage one is urban: the wide roads from the airport into Mersin, around the city and out the western side. In stage two the D400 drops to the shore and runs past Mezitli and Erdemli, greenhouses, citrus groves and beach towns. Near Ayas ancient ruins appear at the roadside, then the castle standing in the sea at Kizkalesi.

Stage three is the best part. After Narlıkuyu the coastline breaks into rocky coves and the road stays close to the water. Then the shore opens out and Atakent's long beach comes into view. On summer evenings the sun sets straight ahead in the west, so keep sunglasses handy for this last stretch.

Summer Luggage and Vehicle Classes

Most people heading to Atakent come for weeks, not a night or two. The luggage reflects that.

  • Couple with two suitcases: Business Sedan or Premium Sedan
  • Travellers who want a quieter cabin for the long drive: Ultra VIP Vito
  • Family with children, a pushchair and beach gear: VIP Vito
  • Three generations travelling together: eight-seat Mercedes Vito

Groups of up to fifteen can book a Mercedes Sprinter, and up to seven can choose the more comfortable Ultra VIP Sprinter. Prices are per vehicle and the form lists every class side by side. Remember to add a child seat as an extra if needed.

Address, Quarter and Return

When you give an Atakent address, name the quarter: Susanoglu, Kapızlı or a street near the centre. Add the complex name, block and door number and the car will drop you at the right gate. For more about the town, day trips nearby and other routes from there, see our Atakent page.

Plan the return when you book. The Add return option in the form puts both directions in one reservation. On summer Sundays traffic heading back towards Mersin can get heavy, so if you fly on a Sunday evening, choose an earlier pickup. To start, select Çukurova Airport as pickup and Atakent as drop-off and add your flight details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the car stop for other passengers?

No. The vehicle you book is reserved for you and your party only, unlike a shared shuttle that calls at several addresses. You are met at the arrivals exit with a name sign and driven straight to your address in Atakent. That is also why the price is per vehicle, not per person, and shown by vehicle class in the form.

Any tips for a long drive with small children?

Add a child seat as an extra when you book and state how many you need. Keep water, snacks and a small toy in your hand luggage, since anything in the suitcase is out of reach on the road. Families wanting space usually choose a VIP Vito, which also leaves room for a pushchair and beach gear.

I fly out on a Sunday evening. When should we leave?

In summer, Sunday traffic from the beach towns back towards Mersin can build up, so choose an earlier pickup than usual for a Sunday flight. Book the return together with your arrival using the Add return option in the booking form, and work the pickup time back from your departure with a margin for check-in.

What if I do not know the name of the quarter?

Ask your host or the complex management for the full address and enter it exactly in the booking. Because both Susanoglu and Kapızlı are used for parts of Atakent, the quarter tells the driver which side of town to head for. If the address only becomes clear later, update it with a change request on the My Reservation page.
