About the destination

Transfer to Mersin Mut

Most people who ask us for a Mut transfer are heading somewhere with roots: a family home, a village wedding, an apricot orchard at harvest time. Mut is an inland district of Mersin province, set in the Göksu valley on the road that climbs from Silifke towards Karaman. This page explains what the town is like, who travels there and where our private transfers go from Mut.

An Inland Town on the Göksu

Leave the coast behind and the landscape changes quickly. Mut sits close to the Göksu river, surrounded by rocky slopes, olive groves and orchards. The air is drier than on the seafront and the evenings cooler. It feels less like a holiday coast and more like the gateway to the Taurus Mountains.

The valley is famous for one crop. Mut apricots carry a registered geographical indication, and thanks to the sheltered microclimate they ripen among the earliest in Turkey. When harvest begins, the town fills with growers, buyers and families who come home to help. Pickups loaded with crates crowd the roads. It is a busy, cheerful season.

Alahan Monastery and Other Reasons to Visit

For international visitors, the main draw is Alahan Monastery. This Byzantine complex of churches and monastic buildings stands on terraces cut into a hillside above the Göksu valley, and it is on UNESCO's World Heritage tentative list. It lies off the road between Mut and Karaman. Go early. The light is soft and the stone has not yet soaked up the afternoon heat.

In town itself, the old castle and historic mosques make for an easy walk. Many travellers say the drive along the river is half the experience.

Who We Drive to Mut

  • Families returning from other cities, or from abroad, for holidays and weddings
  • Apricot growers and traders who need to be in the orchards during harvest
  • Travellers interested in Byzantine sites who want to reach Alahan without renting a car
  • Engineers, inspectors and civil servants on short work visits
  • Couples using Mut as a stop between the Mediterranean coast and Central Anatolia
  • Relatives visiting elderly parents who no longer travel easily

A Business Sedan or Premium Sedan suits one to three passengers with ordinary luggage. Families carrying gifts and extra bags usually prefer a VIP Vito or the eight-seat Mercedes Vito. Wedding groups can travel together in a fifteen-seat Mercedes Sprinter.

Onward Journeys From Mut

Mut works as a crossroads. South lie Silifke and the coast, north lie Karaman and the plateau, and east are Mersin and Adana. Besides airport runs, we take guests to Silifke, to hospital appointments in Mersin and to family in Adana. Hotels such as Royal Mut Otel, Demosan Otel & Spa and Grand Taş Otel are already in our system, and pickup is from the door of your hotel or house. For the airport leg itself, including meeting at arrivals and the valley road, see our page on the transfer from Çukurova Airport to Mut.

Prices are per vehicle, not per passenger, which helps a large family. Select Mut in the booking form, enter your date and compare the vehicle classes. Child seats can be added as an extra.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where exactly is Mut?

Mut is an inland district of Mersin province in southern Turkey. It lies in the Göksu valley on the main road linking Silifke on the Mediterranean coast with Karaman in Central Anatolia. Because of this position it is a natural stopping point for journeys between the coast and the interior, and a base for visiting Alahan Monastery.

Can you take us to Alahan Monastery?

Yes. You can book a point-to-point transfer to Alahan Monastery from Mut or from elsewhere in the region. Use the Add return option in the booking form to put the trip back in the same reservation, choosing both times yourself. The site is on a hillside, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially in summer.

Is it harder to travel during apricot harvest?

Harvest is the busiest time of year in Mut, with growers, buyers and returning families all on the move in the same weeks. If your dates are fixed, book early so you have a wider choice of vehicles. Planning to bring crates of apricots home? Mention it in the notes and pick a vehicle with a large boot.

Our family house has no clear street address. What should we do?

Many neighbourhoods around Mut are found by directions rather than house numbers. Choose Mut in the booking form and write the neighbourhood name, a landmark and a phone number in the notes. If anything changes, send a change request through the My Reservation page and our team will update the plan.
