Çukurova Airport St. Paul's Well / Cleopatra's Gate Transfer
Vehicles & Prices
Price per vehicle — pick a class and book in a minute.
A Çukurova Airport to St. Paul's Well transfer is one of the shortest airport runs we operate, because the airport itself lies within Tarsus. That is good news. It also tempts pilgrimage organisers to squeeze the schedule. This page explains how the journey works, from your landing to the narrow lanes of the old quarter, and where groups tend to lose time.
The First Half Hour After Landing
We take the flight number from your booking and track it. If the plane is late, the pickup time moves with the actual landing. Once you have your luggage, look for the sign with your name, or your group's name, at the arrivals exit.
With large groups, the baggage belt is where time goes. Thirty suitcases rarely arrive together. Ask your guide to gather everyone by the sign and move to the vehicle once the last bag is in. Nobody will rush you.
Across the Plain Into Old Tarsus
The road crosses the flat farmland of the Çukurova plain: cotton and citrus fields, irrigation channels, the odd factory. Tarsus thickens around you as you approach. The final stretch threads into the old quarter, where streets are narrow and often one-way. Speed drops. Patience helps.
A wide vehicle such as a Sprinter may not reach the well's courtyard and will stop at the nearest suitable point. The walk is short, but if you have elderly pilgrims it is worth knowing in advance. Mention it in the notes and the driver will pick the closest stop.
Planning Around Your Luggage
Most pilgrimage groups do not go straight to the well with suitcases. Hauling bags through historic lanes is awkward. Depending on your itinerary, these patterns work well:
- Hotel first: airport to your hotel in Mersin or Tarsus, then a separate transfer to the old quarter the next morning
- Visit first: luggage stays in the vehicle during the visit, then a second booked transfer takes you to the hotel
- Short stop: the well and the gate, then straight back to the airport
- Onward tour: from the well directly to Cappadocia or Antakya as a separate transfer
Plan each leg as its own point-to-point transfer. Prices are per vehicle, and the booking form lists every class from Business Sedan to Mercedes Sprinter side by side.
Catching the Flight Home
Many groups visit the well, the church and the gate and then head straight back to the airport. Because the distance is short, timing looks easy. Still, allow for getting out of the old quarter and for check-in queues. Add the return at booking with the "Add return" option so both legs sit in one reservation.
For more on the old quarter itself, the walking route and nearby sights, see our St. Paul's Well and Cleopatra's Gate page. To book, select Çukurova Airport as pickup and this location as drop-off, then add your flight number.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where should our guide gather the group?
Your driver waits at the arrivals exit with a sign showing the group or organiser's name. The smoothest approach is for the guide to gather everyone by the sign and move to the vehicle once all bags are collected. We track the flight, so a delay shifts the pickup to match the actual landing time.
Can we go straight to the well with our luggage?
Yes, the luggage can stay in the vehicle during your visit. You will then need a second transfer to your hotel, because each leg is booked as a separate point-to-point journey. Many groups find it easier to check in at the hotel first and visit the old quarter the following day.
Is there a long walk for elderly pilgrims?
Some lanes in the old quarter are too narrow for wide vehicles, so the car stops at the nearest suitable point and the walk is short. If anyone in your group has limited mobility, write it in the notes. Smaller vehicles such as sedans or a Vito can usually stop closer to the entrance.
Can we return to the airport right after the visit?
Yes. Add the return during booking with the "Add return" option in the booking form. When choosing the pickup time, allow for leaving the old quarter and for the check-in queue at the airport. If your plans change, send a change request through the My Reservation page.
