Past Mersin, Heading West
From the airport the car heads towards Mersin and uses the wide roads that loop around the city. Once Mersin is behind you, the coastal road towards Erdemli begins, with greenhouses and citrus groves on one side and the sea on the other. After central Erdemli the shoreline villages follow one after another: Tırtar, Kumkuyu, Limonlu, Ayaş.
In Kızkalesi the road changes character. The car turns off the main road into town, onto the lanes that run down to the beach. Peyda Hotel is listed on one of them, 2. Plaj Yolu Sokak. On summer evenings these lanes are busy with people on foot, so the driver edges up to the entrance slowly. Late at night the town is far quieter.
