One District, Several Worlds

Çukurova University's Balcalı Campus sits inside Sarıçam on the eastern shore of the Seyhan Dam Lake. It takes its name from Balcalı, the village that stood on the site before the university was built. The campus holds faculties, a central library and the university hospital, widely known as Balcalı Hospital. In the evenings, students walk along the lakeshore.

At the other end of the district lies İncirlik, home to İncirlik Air Base. Further east, towards Ceyhan, stretches the Adana Hacı Sabancı Organised Industrial Zone. When the morning shift starts, that road runs to its own rhythm.

Who Comes to Sarıçam

Each group travels differently. Academics arrive with a laptop bag. Families moving a student arrive with half a bedroom. Factory delegations often come in groups of six or more.

Getting to the Right Gate

Factories in the industrial zone look alike and are addressed by plot numbers. Put the company name, plot or gate number and a contact phone number in the notes. On campus, the faculty or hospital building name is usually enough. On large sites, the right details get you to the right door.
